Yard Work and Cooper Mountain Nature Park

Friday night we started doing work in the backyard in preparation to get the swimming pool up.  We needed to first remove all the sod (It was bark chips that had not been taken care of when the house was a rental and so the grass had taken over and created a sod like substance) and taking out the mill felt that was between the sod and the ground.

Satuday we met up with the Morgan family and took a hike at Cooper Mountain Nature Park.

Which was should we go?

What do you hear?

After the hike we went to Chick Fil-A to celebrate Emily's birthday a few days early.  We finshed up our time with the Morgan family by taking a trip to Costco.  When we left them we headed back to Newberg and went to Reid Rental to rent a rototiller.

I kept trying to get a pciture of these flowers with the hummingbird that came to visit, but everytime I pulled out my phone, it would zip off.

At the end of the night, we had made good progress, but there was still a lot to do.

Sunday we began to dig out the ground in an effort to level the area for the pool.

At the end of Sunday we had decided that we needed to create a retaining wall so that we could build up one side of the yard.  We did not have enough bricks, so we had to stop.

Tuesday after work I drove up to Home Depot and bought the bricks.  It was a lot of work hauling and getting them to the back yard.  Luckily, Scott was home from work by that time and he borrowed a hand truck from the neighbor and once we got a stack out of the truck, we carted it back to the back yard.  Way easier!
