We've been having issues with our plumbing the last few weeks. Anytime we ran water in the kitchen, ran the dishwasher, or did a load of laundry our utility sink in the garage would back up. Saturday we decided to tackle the problem to see what was wrong.
When doing the laundry we noticed water was running out from under the siding. So, the first thing we did was tear into the siding to see what was going on.
We discovered lots of dried grass from some old decorative grass that had been planted years ago and ripped out recently.
We also found a cracked pipe.
We cracked it even more trying to get it out of the wall.
Underneath the house in the crawl space. Here is where some of the grass came through.
Water that ran from the side of the house to underneath.
So after surveying the mess under the house we headed to Home Depot to get parts.
All the couplings. We bought way more than we needed, but we did not want to have to head back to the store in the middle of the job.
Notice Scott in the background...."What did I get myself into? After buying the materials we called it a night and began working again on Sunday.
Cutting more pipe out so we can replace the bad pipe.
All out...
New pipe installed.
Headed back into the crawl space
Can I come?
Belly crawling to get to the part we need to repair.
Can you see all the junk stuck on the pipe? Another part of our problem. Clogged pipes and nothing was getting them unclogged.
After several hours underneath the house I was starting to feel claustrophobic.
Putting plumbers cement on the pipes and attaching a section.
Found this bad boy Saturday when we were under the house. I was turning to leave and it was right by my face. Let's just say I screamed a little. The girls wanted to see it so I put it in a pastlic bag to bring it back.
One last trip under to make sure everything is working properly.
What'cha doin?
