Daniel Family Road Trip 2015-Friday and Saturday

On Friday 8/7/15 we left Kearney, Nebraska.  We entered the address for the house in Bethany Beach, Delaware into the GPS.  Our estimated arrival time was 9:07 am on 8/8/15 (Delaware is one hour ahead of Kearney and three hours ahead of Oregon).

I drove from Kearney, Nebraska to Des Moines, Iowa.

We crossed into Iowa at 2:03 pm.

We stopped for gas and Chick-fil-A in Des Moines.

Scott drove from Des Moines Iowa to Genoa, Ohio.  At 48 hours into our trip, we crossed the Mississippi River.

We watched the sun set in Iowa.

We crossed the Illinois border at 8:19 pm.  It was shortly after that we first saw fireflies.
We ran into some stormy weather

At 11:04 pm we crossed into Indiana.

Just before 2:30 am we crossed into Ohio.

In Genoa, Ohio I took over driving again.

At 6:24 am we crossed into Pennsylvania.

We saw the sun rise in Pennslyvania.

Further into Pennsylvania, the clouds took over and we completely lost the sun.

In Breezewood, PA we stopped for breakfast at McDonald's and Scott took over driving.

Around 10:15 am we crossed into Maryland.

We stopped in Frederick, Maryland to purchase some gluten-free items for Emily and I.  There is a grocery
store chain back east that has great prices.  It is called Aldi and when we lived in Pennsylvania we used to shop at it all the time.

In order to get a cart at Aldi, you have to put a quarter in a box on the cart to unlock it from all the other carts.  You get your quarter back when you return the cart and put the chain lock back into the box.  The girls thought this was pretty cool.

We hit traffic before the Bay Bridge and when we got closer to the beach towns in Delaware.

Once on the bridge, the traffic started moving.

We crossed into Delaware at 2:25 pm.

Welcome to Delaware's Beaches and lots of traffic!

It took us over two hours to get from Rehoboth, Delaware to Bethany Beach.

Ugh!  More traffic!

Finally flying down the road after getting through Rehoboth and Dewey Beach traffic.

The beach, the beach!

We arrived just before 6pm.

Our home for the week
