We said our goodbyes to our family and headed out to the BWI airport.
I was not feeling very good which was a real bummer. We parked the car and then walked into the airport via a sky walk.

When we got inside we were shocked at the amount of people in the airport.
We got into line. After about 15 minutes, a Southwest airlines worker (the airline I was flying) came and told us the entire East Coast radar system was down. Here's an article on Flypocalypse. Other airports in the United States where trying to help planes land. Luckily, my flight was still on. Or, so we thought. We were almost to the front of the line to have my bag checked and then head through security, when my mom received a text saying my flight had been cancelled. We decided to still try anyways. We got up to a kiosk and tried to check my bag. The flight was actually cancelled. The lady at the kiosk helped us and we were eventually able to book me a seat on a flight to Fort. Meyers on Monday. There where just two down sides. The flight was at 6:20 in the morning, and it wasn't a direct flight. This being my first time flying alone I wasn't super excited about the layover. We called up my Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Chris. We asked if it would be possible for me to stay with them, and for them to provide me a ride to the airport. They agreed.
We drove to their house, and I took a two hour nap. After that I had dinner with them and my cousin Nicholas who is my age. Nicholas and I really bonded during the week in Delaware. Later on, we played some video games and then I was STILL tired, so I went to bed. I awoke the next morning, went to Mass with them, then went shopping for an hour and a half at Home Depot and IKEA. After that we went home and Nicholas and I played Mine Craft and we built a really awesome world! We then went out to dinner with Nana (my great grandma), and my Uncle Bob and Aunt Anne at Jason's Deli. We had a great time. We got back and we played a Daniel family favorite, pinochle. We played two games with an outcome of one to one. Nicholas and I stayed up and talked a while longer before we realized I really needed to get to bed because I had to get up at 3:30. I went to bed, 3:30 came very fast. Aunt Lorraine and I got up and ready and headed to the airport. Nicholas woke up just to say goodbye. When we got to the airport, we were relived that there were a lot less people. The radar system being down was refered to as the Flypocalypse and was due to a computer glitch. We got up, and were getting my bag checked when the airline worker (who's name was Nancy) realized she had a direct flight to Fort Meyers at 8:40 that got in a half hour before the previous flight would have. We transferred me to that flight, and then Aunt Lorraine and I hung out at the airport till I boarded.

I got on the plane, and prepared to fly by myself.

Brave girl! I bet you had a great time on the flight! Loved your narration of your airport experience!
