So since we saw signs for cheese, we decided we need to stop and get some.
Trying to milk the cow! Silly girl!
We stopped at Ehlenbach's Cheese Chalet
Only 1948 miles to Seattle!
Beautiful murals showing the cheese making process.
We decided to get Horseradish and Chive Havarti cheese and Smoked Baby Swiss cheese.
This is the Havarti cheese. It was delicious!
The fog as we entered Minnesota
Welcome to Minnesota!
And then the rain started...
More wind farms
A break in the rain
More construction cones. We drove so many highways with construction. They diverted the other directions traffic on to the same side of the highway as us.
Welcome to South Dakota! A storm was blowing through the area and it made driving interesting. The wind was blowing the car all over the highway and the rain made it nearly impossible to see. As it got dark, it got even harder.
We finally arrived at Laura Ingalls Wilder's homestead and we
were ready to get to our covered wagon.
The rain was really coming down and the wind was howling.
Eating her dinner
The rain was coming down so hard, we decided to only grab what we could and not make several trips back and forth to the car. It was not super close and so we got soaked. We grabbed our bedding and that was about it. We left our suitcases in the car and slept in our clothes. Lauren and I both had dresses on because when we left our hotel that morning, it was beautiful, sunny, and warm.
